Day 1: While driving to the Park and Ride to ride the train to downtown to see the fireworks we see about 10 cop cars and an ambulance at one of the train stops. We wonder what in the world is going on, and as we drive by we see a man, not moving, slouched over, and roped off with police tape, sitting on the bench at the stop. He's dead. There is a dead guy at the train stop! We board the train at the Park and Ride, and when we pass the stop that the dead guy is at we get a better look at him. Yup he's dead. It looked like he may have been homeless and had a seizure or heart attack or something. So sad, but I think it's fantastic that that experience will forever be my first memory of Houston. Whenever I drive past that train stop (which is just down the street from where we will be living) I will always remember that day. Rest in peace dead guy.
Day 2: We went to the ward we thought we might be living in (turns out we're not, but that's ok). Everyone was SO nice and helpful, and going to church there really made me feel at home. I love how the church is the same no matter where you are. It really was a comforting feeling to walk into a church building and have everything be so familiar even though we were in an unfamiliar city.
Day 3: First day looking at condos. Fell in love with the one we're buying. On the way back to our hotel, my dad texts me and says to stay off the highways because there is a police chase going on. Sure enough, when we turn on the t.v. there is a police chase about 5 miles away. I love Houston. Also on that day I discovered that Houston has one of the greatest malls ever. It's only about 5 minutes away from us and it has every store I could ever want and more. I will never be able to afford 99% of the things in that mall, but a girl can dream right?
Day 4: We put an offer down on our condo, thinking that the seller will probably counter offer, but we are happy with our find and hope everything works out.
Day 5: Even though our flight home is delayed an hour, it was a great day because we found out our offer was accepted!! This really made me realize that God had a hand in our little trip this week. We had so little time to find something, but we found the perfect place and ended up getting it at a killer price.
Here are some pics of the condo (the furniture obviously isn't ours, but all the appliances stay). It's a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, and we are going to repaint the master bedroom and possibly the kitchen:

That's exciting! Congratulations you two!
Oh that's so exciting!! Good news for you and Weston, it's very settling to know where you'll be when the baby is born. Congrats!
First of all, your new home is darling! You will love having a place of your very own. Houston sounds like such a great place to live - I have heard the shopping in TX is awesome! Okay, and I feel bad for not remembering, but your husband is going to medical or dental school? I can't remember if you mentioned the name of the school? I guess maybe I need to pay attention more! Congratulations on all of your new exciting adventures!! :)
